About Greenfield FUMC Who are we? We are people just like you, striving to live godly lives but sometimes falling short. We acknowledge that Jesus Christ died for our sins and we accept his free gift of salvation. As Christians, we believe in the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Some of the key beliefs of Christianity are summed up in the Apostles Creed: I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day He rose from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. *universal church The Methodist movement founder, John Wesley (who began his ministry in England in 1738), said it almost 300 years ago, and it’s truer today than he could have imagined: "The world is our parish." There are 8.5 million United Methodists in the United States and about 1.5 million more worldwide, with the largest growth in membership occurring in Africa and the Philippines. Our faith binds us together as children of God and brothers and sisters in Christ. We don’t necessarily share the same opinions about every faith issue or social concern. But we are working in our community to make a difference, and in concert with other United Methodists throughout the world in bring the message of hope and salvation as Jesus Christ commanded in Matthew 28: 16-20 – “Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Come and share with us as we worship our Lord and seek to grow in wisdom, understanding and faith.
